Alternatives
I last posted about 10 days ago. During that time i was collecting equipment and samples for my experiment. It was extremely hard to find sterile containers for storing samples, but i was able to find some eventually. I then got samples on the Sunday, intending to get the samples onto agar film as soon as possible the next day. However i was not able to proceed with my experiment on the Monday, as the labs were not available for my use, resulting in a delay. I was able to get the samples on agar film on the Tuesday, but i was doubtful at whether there would be any results. Today, i went to check on the samples in the incubator and found that the temperature had been risen to about 60 degrees Celsius. This high temperature would have killed off the bacteria i was intending to observe. As there isn't enough time and resources for me to do this experiment again, i am contemplating alternatives of the experiment which i can do over the holidays. One of my original ideas was to experiment whether the TIME at which a plant is watered would effect its growth rate. This would be quite a simple experiment to conduct, however it may take a length of time. Another experiment which i could do also involves plants. I could test whether the amount of soil allowed for a plant to grow in will effect the growth rate of a plant. This would be much easier and simpler to do compared to the first. I will consider these two experiments over night and start on the experiment as soon as possible.
