Evaluating

After doing anything, it is always good to point out things you liked, things you didn't like, things that didn't work and others. I'm going to point those things out now.

Things I liked and disliked about this assignment: At the very aspect of being able to test something of your own choice, i was very pleased. Finally, we were able to do something that interested us, and not just something that we were given or assigned to. There weren't very many things that i disliked about this assignment, but i think the fact that the assignment was given to us too early made us believe that we had alot of time when we really didn't. If the assignment had been given to us maybe one or two weeks after, i think alot of people would have worked harder and actually fit it into the time limit. Because the assignment went over the holidays, many people believed that they could finish it in the holidays.

Things I would change: If i were to do this assignment again, I would have started preparing my equipment much earlier to allow time for mistakes and stuff ups. If i were to have done this, i would have been able to successfully gone through with my first experiment. Because i couldn't, i rushed to finish the second experiment. With my second experiment, i didn't want to do anything to generic or something similar to everyone else. It was difficult thinking of an experiment that didn't sound like something someone else was doing.

Some things that didn't work: Most things worked during my experiment. All my equipment worked and only outlying factors effected my first experiment. In my second experiment, i chose the wrong approach to the experiment. I decided that i wanted to test how fast a liquid 'dissolves' (breaking down COMPLETELY into the liquid, so that it isn't seen) a paracetamol tablet, when in fact, these tablets do not 'dissolve' in a sense. Paracetamol tablets may break down in many smaller particles, but do not dissolve INTO the liquid, like metamucil tablets for example.

All in all i really liked this assignment, however i think i could have done alot better in terms of timing and the actual experiment. I think my second experiment was very rushed and it didn't go as planned.
